Tangerine 🍊

🍊 is used above all in its literal sense, to evoke this small citrus fruit readily associated with winter: tangerines traditionally appear in Christmas baskets and holiday stockings, which gives the emoji a more marked seasonal, warm tone than other fruits. It's used to talk about a craving for vitamin C, an easy-to-carry snack, or to illustrate a year-end mood.

In certain cultures, particularly in East Asia, citrus fruits close to the tangerine are given and exchanged during the Lunar New Year as a symbol of prosperity and luck, their golden color evoking gold and success.
