Green Heart 💚

💚 is the heart most directly linked to nature: it accompanies messages about the environment, ecology, or a particular sensitivity to the outdoors, a use that clearly sets it apart from the other colored hearts, more centered on human relationships. It's used both to express a personal attachment to nature and to display a more activist commitment to environmental causes.

In French, green carries a sometimes contradictory double symbolism: it evokes hope and renewal — nature growing back, the green light that allows you to move forward — but also jealousy, through the expression "green with envy." Used as an emoji, 💚 almost always leans toward the positive side, the negative connotation staying confined to the fixed expression rather than the actual use of the symbol. It can nonetheless be used, tongue-in-cheek, to tease someone about a slight feeling of envy, in a deliberately humorous register.

Green is finally a color claimed by certain communities or specific events (Irish celebrations, groups or clubs that have adopted it as their identifying color), which gives 💚 an occasional rallying use, worn collectively for the duration of an occasion or a long-standing attachment to a group.

Like the other shades in the family of colored hearts, 💚 arrived to expand the range of nuances available beyond the historic red. Green already carried an old, widely shared symbolic charge — nature, growth, the green light allowing you to proceed — which the emoji naturally inherited without needing to build a new meaning from scratch, unlike initially more neutral shades like orange or brown.

💚 is used to express sincere love of nature ("nothing recharges me like a walk in the forest 💚"), to show support for an environmental cause, or to celebrate an event associated with this color. It also accompanies, more rarely and in a light tone, an amused admission of envy toward someone ("you're so lucky, I'm 💚").

Among friends, it stays broadly neutral on the romantic front, a bit like yellow, which allows it to be used unambiguously toward a loved one. It also works well in advocacy or activist communication, where its ecological symbolism is immediately understood with no need for explanation.
