T-Rex 🦖

🦖 first relies on the image of the fearsome prehistoric predator, the ultimate reference for raw power and absolute domination in a bygone era. It's used to describe impressive, almost disproportionate strength, or to evoke a project, a team, or a person that crushes the competition with no apparent effort, in a register close to the lion's but tinged with a more spectacular, fantastical imagery.

But the T-Rex also inseparably carries one of the most universal running gags in pop culture: its tiny arms, almost comical given its imposing size, unable to perform gestures as simple as clapping or scratching its own back. This disproportion has spawned countless jokes and an instantly recognizable mimed gesture, arms folded against the chest. 🦖 is thus very often used in self-deprecation, to turn a physical clumsiness or an inability to accomplish an otherwise basic task into a joke.
